Brunch at Niels, Copenhagen
I had the pleasure of staying at By Nobis CPH on my most recent trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. The hotel is still quite new, and absolutely beautiful. It has it's own restaurant downstairs, Niels, which serves up classic, yet modern Scandinavian dishes with a little hint of French cuisine. On Saturdays and Sundays they serve brunch, with bubbles or cocktails. Something we simply could not resist.
The bubbles were sublime, and perfect for our, surprisingly warm, Spring weekend. We sat outside, on a terrace with moss green tables and chairs, next to a pastel wall and lush green topiary buxus balls -- such a pretty setting.
We had eggs benedicts on a brioche bun, beef tartare with mustard seeds and tarragon served on a warm waffle, avocado with piment d'espilette and salted almonds, and lumpfish roe with potato roti and creme fraiche.
Other things on the menu were fresh oysters with pink grapefruit, lobster rolls with salt baked celieriac and Danish potatoes with lovage and crispy chicken skin -- wishing we had a change to try it all.
